Wedding Venue FAQS
To arrange a visit, you can visit our book a visit page on our website and select a suitable date and time using our visit calendar. Alternatively, if you want to speak to our team directly, call 01273 030203.
Your initial payment is £750 of your venue hire fee plus your initial catering payment of £750 + VAT.
Once you have been to visit, you will receive via email log on details to our booking portal, which can be found here. Remember to book your registrar or Church, details of which are found in these questions.

Last orders will be called at 11:15 pm, and music will wind down at 11:30 pm. The bar will also close at 11.30 pm.The venue closes at midnight, and we ask that all guests who aren’t staying the night have pre-booked taxis to collect them by midnight.
You will need to contact the local registrar to inform them of your chosen venue, your wedding date and preferred time.

There are six churches within a one-mile radius of Pelham House (10-15 minutes’ walk). The Lewes parish church is the beautiful St. Michael’s only a few minutes’ walk away.
You can use The Dressing Room before your wedding if you prefer a church wedding. Alternatively, you may choose to arrive at Pelham House after your wedding ceremony.
Ceremony – Outdoor ceremonies can seat up to 150 guests. Indoor ceremonies can host 125 seated or 150 with some seated and some standing.
Dining – We can host 150 guests for a sit-down meal
Dancing – Our capacity for your evening reception is 200 guests
Accommodation – We have 28 bedrooms plus The Pelham Suite spread across the house and mews, meaning we can accommodate up to 60 people in total. Each guest can also join us for breakfast in The Paneled Room the next morning.
Yes, we have The Dressing Room, which includes hair and makeup stations and a comfortable seating area. This space is available from 9 am the morning of your wedding.
We love (well-behaved) dogs and appreciate that they are a huge part of your family. They are welcome to join you for the ceremony and photographs, and we have dog-friendly rooms in Courthope Mews where crates can be provided. If you wish to bring your dog(s) along, please ask to see our dog policy.

Pelham House is wheelchair accessible. We also have a fully accessible bedroom for overnight guests.
A fantastic team of in-house chefs provide all of our catering. It is not possible to use your own caterers.
We strongly recommend that you take out wedding insurance. Weddings are a big investment, and fingers crossed that you’ll never need to call on your insurance, but having it in place will cover you for a range of eventualities.

Yes! We can and do host many different types of events and celebrations, such as gala dinners, product launches, Christmas parties and many more. The best way to find out more about hosting an event here is by visiting our website’s events page or contacting the team directly at 01273 030204.

Every event we host here is unique, so we do not have a standard pricing package. Instead, we speak with you directly to create a bespoke package that suits you and your event.
This will vary depending on your event type, but our maximum capacity is 200 guests.
We do not allow outside caterers at Pelham House. However, we are more than happy to work with you to create a bespoke menu that perfectly fits your vision.
Yes, we are wheelchair accessible, and we have an accessible bedroom for overnight guests.
Yes, all events have exclusive use of the venue.
Yes, we are happy for you to use your own suppliers for everything apart from catering and drinks.
Food & Drinks FAQs
All catering is provided by Pelham’s onsite team of chefs.
Our chefs love working with you to create your own menu if you would like something a little different from our packages.
It is not possible to bring any food and drink into the venue other than a wedding or celebration cake, confectionery (which must be in the original sealed containers in which they were purchased), and edible favours with allergens clearly labelled. Please speak with our team if you need any further clarification.
Please speak to our Events Team about any allergies or dietary requirements you or your guests may have during your meetings in the lead-up to the event.
Yes, we have a delicious range of vegan and vegetarian options.
You can work with our bar team to create bespoke cocktails for your wedding or event.
Yes! We have a range of delicious grazing boards available to enjoy while you get ready in The Dressing Room. We can also provide bottles of Champagne or prosecco for your wedding morning celebrations. Please speak to the events team for more information.
Guest & Accommodation FAQs
Pelham House is located on St. Andrew’s Lane just off the main high street in Lewes town centre. The post code is BN7 1UW.
There are five car parking spaces onsite which the event organisers can allocate. Otherwise, the closest car park is Lewes train station car park. Daily tickets are the only option available at this car park, and all daily tickets expire at 4 am. Overnight guests will need to purchase a 2-day ticket in advance to ensure they comply with parking regulations.

Our bar is usually open ahead of a wedding ceremony. Please note that the bar closes 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Please speak to the wedding couple about the exact timings of the day.

Pelham House has 28 bedrooms, plus the incredible Pelham Suite. All accommodation is exclusive to those attending the wedding or event. Pelham House can sleep up to 60 people in total. View our accommodation breakdown here.
There is no minimum requirement for the number of rooms to be booked.
Yes. If you would like to book just The Pelham Suite the prices are dependent on day of the week. Please see the prices page.
We can accommodate up to 56 adult guests. We also have five Z-beds for children up to the age of 14 maximum. Please let us know if you require a Z-bed. An additional charge of £30 per Z-bed applies.
All the bedrooms in Pelham House are en-suite.
We have one disabled access bedroom on the ground floor with a full wet room. There are three other bedrooms that are on the ground floor. View our accommodation breakdown here.

Yes, we provide tea and coffee facilities in all bedrooms.
We have a few of each available. Please ask when you arrive.
Once you have booked your wedding or event date, we will share a link to the website and a secret code with you, which will unlock the bedrooms for the night of your wedding or event. You can then book the rooms you want and then share the code with your guests to reserve their rooms.
It is important to read and understand the Terms and Conditions of hire before you book. If you have any queries prior to booking, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
This may be possible if we do not have an event booking the day before. We can confirm this closer to the wedding or event date.
We will release the night before the wedding date four months prior. Please note that we require a minimum of 10 bedrooms to be booked. We can open the bar and offer a meal if desired for night-before stays.

We’ll serve breakfast for you and your wedding guests between 8:30 am and 9:30 am. If you or your guests have any dietary requirements, please let us know beforehand.
We can only accommodate our overnight guests for breakfast.
Yes, when you make a booking you will receive a code for our accommodation system. You can share this code with your guests when you are ready so that they can book their own rooms. Or we can reserve the rooms in your name.
Yes. You will be able to book or allocate rooms to your guests.
Guests can check in to their bedrooms from 3.30 pm.
We ask that all guests check out by 10 am.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer a late checkout. We stipulate this time to enable us to prepare the venue for the next wedding or event.
Yes, we have one travel cot as well as baby changing facilities, nappy bags, wet wipes and a selection of nappies.
