How do we confirm our wedding at Pelham House?
If you decide that Pelham House is the perfect venue for you, our booking portal makes it easy for you to check our availability and book your chosen wedding date with ease. To access the portal, please visit bookthevenue.co.uk/pelhamhouse and login with the details provided to you at your showround.
How much deposit is required to book the date?
10% of the venue hire for weddings taking place over 12 months away.
30% of the venue hire for weddings taking place in 12 months or less.
Who books the ceremony?
You will need to contact the local registrar to inform them of your chosen venue, your wedding date and preferred time.

If you would prefer a church wedding, you can still make use of The Dressing Room before your ceremony.
Alternatively, you may choose to arrive at Pelham House after your wedding ceremony. There are six churches within a one-mile radius of Pelham House (10-15 minutes’ walk). The Lewes parish church is the beautiful St. Michael’s only a few minutes’ walk away.
Can we get married outside at Pelham House?
Yes, Pelham House is licensed for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. Outdoor ceremonies take place in The Gazebo.
How many can Pelham House seat for a ceremony?
We can seat between 50 and 125 guests for both an indoor or outdoor ceremony. We can accommodate up to 150 guests with some standing.
How many can Pelham House seat for the wedding breakfast?
We can seat between 50 and 150 guests for your wedding breakfast.
What time are we able to access the venue from?
The Dressing Room will be available for you to access from 9 am.
The Pelham Suite will be available to access from 12 noon.
What time can suppliers access the venue from?
Suppliers have access from 10 am.
What time does the venue close?
The Gardens will be closed off at 10:30 pm. Last orders will be called at 11:15 pm. The music will wind down at 11:30 pm. The venue closes at 12 midnight. We ask that non-residents have pre-booked taxis to collect them by 12 midnight. Residents are to vacate to their rooms at midnight.
Can we have candles at our wedding?
Candles are permitted at Pelham House however, they must be placed in suitable candle holders. Battery operated candles are also a great alternative. Please speak to your event manager for further information regarding this.
Can we have confetti at the wedding?
Yes, but we only permit real petal confetti and for it to be thrown outside on the paved areas or inside in the Goring Room or hallway.
Does the venue have heating and or air conditioning facilities?
Yes, we have heating for the colder months and air conditioning for the warmer months.
Can we have sky lanterns?
Unfortunately lanterns are not permitted.
Can we have fireworks at our wedding?
Unfortunately fireworks are not permitted.
Do you have a smoking area?
Yes, there is a smoking area in the east end of the garden. Smoking is prohibited anywhere within the building, the courtyard or on the terrace
Can we have drones?
Due to our town centre location drones are not permitted.
Do we have to use your recommended suppliers?
Other than using our expert on-site catering team, for any catering and drink provision, you are welcome to use your own suppliers. We have a useful list of recommended suppliers to share with you. Just ask our Events Team for a copy of this.
Do we need to take out wedding insurance?
We strongly recommend that you take out wedding insurance. Weddings are a big investment and fingers crossed you’ll never need to call on your insurance, but having it in place will cover you for a range of eventualities.
Is there accommodation on site?
Yes, Pelham House has 29 bedrooms, including the fabulous Pelham Suite.
Do we have to take the accommodation?
You do not have to take our accommodation if you do not wish to.
Do we have to take a minimum number of bedrooms?
No, there is no minimum requirement for booking rooms.
How much is the accommodation?
All prices quoted are excluding VAT.

The Pelham Suite on any day is £333.33 plus VAT.
All the rates are for bed and breakfast.
Do you have any accommodation special offers?
Yes, if you book 15 rooms within two months of booking your wedding date, you will receive The Pelham Suite free.
Will we be able to stay at the venue the night before the wedding?
This is something that may be possible, depending on availability closer to the date of your wedding.
We will release the night before the wedding date 4 months prior.
Please speak with our team if this is something that you may be interested in.
Are there any offers for the night before our wedding in 2019?
Yes, if you wish to stay the night before your wedding in 2019 you can now book all of the accommodation the night before to secure this. This means that you don’t need to wait until 4 or 6 months before your date to secure the night before your wedding.
How do we book the accommodation?
Once you have booked your wedding date we will send you a link to the website and a secret code which will unlock the bedrooms for the night of your wedding. You can then book as many rooms as you require before sharing the code with your guests for them to book and pay for their own rooms.
Where is breakfast served?
Breakfast is served from the Atrium kitchen and in the Panelled Room the morning after your wedding.
Will our guests find Pelham House easily?
We recommend that you share a copy of the directions to Pelham House with your guests as it contains a parking guide with local car parks.
Where can our guests park?
There are car parks available throughout Lewes. The closest being at the train station, a three-minute walk away. Again, we recommend that you share the directions and car parking guide with your guests.
Do you offer a shuttle service?
Yes, we offer a taxi shuttle service from Lewes train station, this service is available for two hours before your ceremony and will continue until just before your ceremony.
How many car parking spaces are available at the venue?
We have 5 spaces in the courtyard which are available to the couple. Cars will need to be collected by 10 am the following day.
Where is the nearest train station?
Lewes Train station is a three-minute walk away.
